    Potty training is an enormous milestone for everyone. Parents get to celebrate the end of nappy changes, and little kids get to take a giant leap out of babyhood and into the new world of being a big kid. But teaching your child to use the toilet us not always easy. To help, we have rounded up a collection of 11 books to help spark some excitement and explain a few key parts of the process. Your kiddo will be on their way to become a total whiz at doing their duty in no time!

    Everyone Poops by Taro Gomi and illustrated by Amanda Mayer Stinchecum

    Everyone Poops is a classic potty training book that shows kids that all animals have to go number two. Kids will find endless humour as they flip the pages to see how animals deal with pooping. This book has beautiful, simple illustrations and clear language.  

    The New Potty (Little Critter) by Mercer Mayer and Gina Mayer

    Potty training can be a whole family affair, as one Little Critter discovers in this heartwarming story. Little Sister is learning to use her new potty with the encouragement of her big brother, but it is a bumpy—and relatable—adventure. If your kids love the Little Critter series, then this is a must-have book for potty training.

With lots of high-flying adventure and a big, positive attitude, Potty Superhero: Get Ready for Big Boy Pants!—or alternatively, Potty Superhero: Get Ready for Big Girl Pants!—is a great motivator to help little kids get excited about ditching nappies and wearing big-kid underwear.

    We Poop on the Potty! by Little Grasshopper Books, Jim Harbison, Nicole Sulgit, and illustrated by Jean Claude

    We Poop on the Potty! won the prestigious The Mom's Choice Awards, making this a top pick potty training book for kids. The story uses humour and bright art to show kids how animals all over the world poop, while making it clear that that humans poop in a toilet. It is also available as an interactive app for iPhone and Android that includes games and puzzles for kids.  

    Sesame Street’s Potty Time with Elmo Potty Training Sound Book by Editors of Phoenix International Publications

    Everyone's favourite furry red monster teaches his doll, Baby David, how to use the potty in this fun toddler book about toilet training. Plus, seven buttons to add some fun sound effects to the story. More than 2.3 million kids have enjoyed this classic.
